Woman Driving on a Suspended License Crashes Into a 7-Eleven Store

7-Eleven crash

SOUTH FORT MYERS, LEE COUNTY, FL. — Florida State Troopers are investigating an incident involving a woman who was allegedly driving with a suspended license and drove her oversized SUV straight through the front of a 7-Eleven convenience store. The SUV came to rest deep within the store. A man cashing out lottery tickets and a store employee sustained minor injuries. Neither the operator of the SUV nor the passenger sustained any injuries in the crash according to winknews.com. Troopers assigned from the Florida Highway Patrol have the matter under further investigation.

A televised report from WINK posted on the station’s website related how one witness described the travel of the large, white SUV just before it plowed into the store. That witness told a reporter from WINK that the vehicle took a corner to pull into the parking lot and was “coming in hot” when it hit the store. None of the witnesses said that the vehicle came to a complete stop before driving through the front of the store. The people inside the 7-Eleven were lucky to escape without serious injury. The store is located on College Parkway and U.S. 41.

The preliminary investigation conducted by law enforcement officers, including Lee County sheriff’s deputies and the Florida Highway Patrol troopers who responded revealed that the driver of the SUV, a 37-year-old woman from Lehigh Acres, Florida has a suspended license. Police did not say why the woman’s license is suspended.

There is any number of reasons why a person’s driver’s license might be suspended in Florida. For example, the driver may have committed a motor vehicle infraction that resulted in a suspension. Also, the driver could owe the state money, have a warrant, driving while intoxicated, or may be unfit to operate a vehicle.  You can file a claim against the unlicensed driver if a person without a license hit you in a parking lot or on the street. However, if the vehicle which the driver with the suspended license was driving was not insured, then you must look to your vehicle’s uninsured or underinsurance benefits and PIP benefits for protection against loss.

Christina Morace my Paralegal at Parker Waichman’s Long Island office successfully obtained not one but two World Trade Center Victim Compensation awards for myself. She was knowledgeable, always there for me and fought for the compensation I deserved for working at Ground Zero and then unfortunately getting two 911 related ailments. I will highly recommend Christina to anyone who has to go through the Victim’s Compensation process.

She's not only knowledgeable but has been calming and reassuring throughout. Thank you Christine.
