DAVIE, FL – The Sun-sentinel reported a fatal accident that occurred in the early hours of Wednesday, April 18, 2018. The collision occurred when the driver’s 2012 Hyundai veered off Interstate 75 and smashed into a highway sign pole.*
Derrick M. Floyd, a 39-year-old man from Miami, was identified as the driver of the vehicle. Lt. Alvaro Feola reported that Floyd died at the scene of the accident. The accident occurred just before 4 a.m. and left Floyd’s Hyundai wrapped around the highway sign pole.
As a result of the fatal collision, Davie Fire Rescue closed some of I-75’s southbound lanes so as to carry out police investigations. The highway was reopened by later Wednesday morning. Investigators have yet to report the cause of the crash.
