THE UNITED STATES – June 24, 2020 – According to an online news report published on abc7chicago.com, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has announced a recall of Hy-Vee, Aldi, and Jewel-Osco bagged salad after 120 people in seven states were hospitalized with a severe illness.
The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced that most people who were sickened live in Iowa and Illinois. The news report states that the grocery store salad mix has been contaminated with Cyclospora. Cyclospora is a parasite that can lead to severe illnesses and dangerous symptoms.
The grocery-store bagged salad mix is packaged as Jewel-Osco Signature Farms Brand Garden Salads, Hy-Vee Brand Garden Salads, and ALDI Little Salad Bar Brand Garden Salads.
The following states have reported the illness: Iowa, Illinois, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, and Wisconsin.
