502 Boundary Blvd. Recalls Ham According to an announcement from the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS), 502 Boundary Blvd. Inc. is recalling 8,694 pounds of ham products due to possible contamination. The recalled ham may contain extraneous materials such as rubber, FSIS said. 502 Boundary Blvd., based in Algona, Washington, was formerly known as Fletcher’s Fine Foods Ltd.
The ham was produced and packaged by Sofina Foods in London. It was exported to the United States on July 21, 2016. Only the US received this product, which is a boneless, ready-to-eat ham item produced on July 18, 2016. The ham came in a 6.02-lb vacuum-sealed package. It was labeled “Fletcher’s Fine Foods CLASSICS Black Forest Brand Ham with Natural Juices.”
502 Boundary Blvd. Recalled Products Label
The recalled products say “Product of Canada”and “Est. #337” on the label. The packaging code is 16 OC 2016. The ham products were distributed to Costco and Sam’s Club and distribution centers located in Alaska, Utah and Washington.
According to the FSIS announcement, the problem was identified through a consumer complaint which described “various sized pieces of what appeared to be rubber material embedded” in the Black Forest Ham product. No injuries have been linked to the recall so far. Anyone who has the recalled products are advised not to eat them; they should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.
The USDA has designated the recall as Class 2, meaning “This is a health hazard situation where there is a remote probability of adverse health consequences from the use of the product.”
