TWA Agriculture Mixed Mushroom Listeria Monocytogenes
According to a trending news story posted on PopCulture.com, additional mushroom food products have been recalled due to Listeria Monocytogenes. TWA Agriculture Mixed Mushrooms made by Farm Fresh Produce LLC of Vernon, California, have been added to the long list of mushroom products to be recalled. The mushroom distributor initiated a recall of its mixed mushrooms products due to a potential Listeria monocytogenes contamination problem. Two other mushroom distributors have recalled their mushroom products in the past few weeks due to the same Listeria monocytogenes contamination concerns.
This recall includes all 14.11-ounce containers of “TWA Agriculture Mixed Mushrooms” due to possible contamination with an organism that causes listeria infections. Listeria infections are dangerous for small children, elderly people, and people who have weakened immune systems. Listeria illnesses can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women. The symptoms of listeria infection in healthy people include high fever, stiffness, headaches, abdominal pain, nausea, and diarrhea.
According to the Farm Fresh Produce LLC’s notice posted on the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s website, its TWA Agriculture Mixed Mushrooms products were distributed to retail stores nationwide. These products were distributed in clear plastic containers and had a UPC code of “6957937481850.”
Farm Fresh Produce LLC has halted the producing this product while the company and the FDA resume their investigation concerning the origin of the Listeria. Customers who have the products are asked to return the product to receive a full refund. Consumers with questions should contact Farm Fresh Produce.
This mushroom recall is the latest recall issued that concerns possible listeria contamination. Last month, Golden Medal Mushroom Inc. expanded their recall of Enoki mushrooms due to possible contamination. Those recalled mushroom products were sent to Chicago, Dallas, and Los Angeles food distributors prior to being delivered to retailers. That recall was prompted following routine testing from the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development.
