Another plaintiff has filed a lawsuit against the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Louisville, alleging that he was sexually abused by the Rev. Louis E. Miller at Holy Spirit Church more than 40 years ago.
Primus L. Klapheke is the 197th person to sue the archdiocese this year. More than 70 of the plaintiffs accuse Miller of abuse between the 1950s and 1980s.
All the lawsuits allege sexual abuse by a priest or an employee of the archdiocese. They also contend that the archdiocese knew, or should have known, of the alleged abuse and concealed the conduct, not reporting it to authorities.
Miller, who is retired, also faces criminal charges that he abused 26 children in Jefferson and Oldham Counties. He has pleaded innocent.
Attorney William McMurry, who represents most clients in the civil suits against the archdiocese, filed the suit on behalf of Klapheke.
Miller served at Holy Spirit Church from 1956 to 1962.
Sara Warmuth, spokeswoman for the archdiocese, declined to comment on the suit.
In July, Archbishop Thomas C. Kelly wrote eight priests, including Miller, that they were being permanently removed from the ministry. All eight have been named in lawsuits.
