LONG ISLAND, NY – A news report posted on dailyvoice.com states that a compact SUV driver struck and killed a female pedestrian as she tried to cross a busy Long Island street. The driver was apprehended, arrested, and now faces serious criminal charges. The collision occurred at around 8:30 PM in Williston Park.
According to the Nassau County Police, the 74-year-old female victim who started to cross Hillside Avenue was hit by a Nissan Rogue that was heading eastbound along Hillside Avenue by Broad Street in Nassau County, New York. As a consequence of the motor vehicle collision, the victim sustained several trauma injuries. She was pronounced deceased at the accident scene by the medics.
The driver of the Nissan SUV stayed at the accident scene. Nassau County Police stated in a formal report that the driver, a 29-year-old New Hyde Park man, was arrested and charged with driving while impaired/drugs and second-degree vehicular manslaughter. The suspect was arraigned in First District Court in Hempstead, New York, last Sunday.
The fatal pedestrian accident investigation is ongoing. The victim’s name was not released to the public.
