Lawsuits Have Been Filed Against St. Louis Priest. Five additional lawsuits have been filed alleging Catholic priest Michael McGrath molested children and the Archdiocese of St. Louis covered it up.
Like many of the earlier seven suits, the new suits, filed Tuesday, allege McGrath fondled the children while letting them drive his van during day trips and weekend outings he organized for young teens throughout the 1980s, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported.
The suits also allege the archdiocese shuttled McGrath from parish to parish to hide his predatory ways though none of the plaintiffs reported their abuse until this year, the newspaper said.
sexual abuse accusations
The archdiocese denies sexual abuse accusations had anything to do with McGrath’s assignments.
The archdiocese said a man came forward in 1993 and accused McGrath of fondling him in the early 1970s, so McGrath was put through psychological testing and received psychological treatment for a year.
He was placed on administrative leave in 1997.
