Men With Diabetes Risk For Colorectal Cancer A study by published in the journal Diabetes Care suggests that colorectal cancer may be added to the list of ‘diabetes’ complications according to the lead researcher, Susanna C. Larsson of the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm, Sweden.
The team followed 45,500 men between the ages of 45 and 79 who enrolled in the six-year study. Of the 411 cases of colorectal cancer, ‘diabetes’ was associated with a 49% higher likelihood of developing both colon and rectal cancer.

Prior epidemiological studies have already detected an increased risk of colorectal cancer in patients with ‘diabetes’.
Dr. Larrson and the team have concluded that their findings “support the hypothesis” that elevated insulin levels or factors related to insulin resistance may play some role in the development of colorectal cancer.
