Mr. Pizza Inc. Recall Luncheon Meat Due To Contamination. Mr. Pizza Inc. is recalling 210 pounds of fully-cooked pork luncheon meat that may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, a dangerous bacteria.
The Anderson company voluntarily recalled the product, which was produced Nov. 20 and distributed to Pizza King restaurants in northeast Indiana, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food and Safety Inspection Service said Tuesday in a news release.
The problem was discovered through routine USDA testing.
Each package label bears “EST.4235” inside the USDA seal of inspection.
The recalled product is 5-pound packages of “Mr. Pizza Inc. Sliced Spiced Luncheon Meat.”
Consuming food contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes can cause listeriosis, an uncommon but potentially fatal disease for those with weakened immune systems.
The Food and Safety Inspection Service has received no reports of illnesses associated with the recalled products.
