According to an online news report posted on Patch.com, the Suffolk police stated that one driver sideswiped another motor vehicle on Long Island, New York. The accident occurred at approximately 6:30 in the evening. The car accident happened on Fifth Avenue at Reil Place in Bay Shore, Long Island, New York. According to Suffolk police, the accident caused severe injuries to two women.
According to the Suffolk police, a 28-year-old man was operating his Kia Sportage SUV south along Fifth Avenue at Reil Place in Bay Shore when his SUV was sideswiped by a Mercedes Benz sedan that was moving southbound. The accident caused the Kia Sportage SUV to spin-off of the road and into a wooded area, and the SUV struck a tree.
The two seriously injured victims, a 20-year-old man from Brentwood, and the Mercedes’ front passenger, a 21-year-old woman from Brentwood, were transported to Southside Hospital to treat their serious injuries. A 22-year-old man from Bay Shore, who was riding as a passenger in the Mercedes’ back seat, was transported to Southside Hospital for treatment of his injuries, and then he was released.
A Brentwood, his wife, and their two young children riding in the SUV’s back seat were transported to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip, New York, for treatment of their injuries then they were released.
Both motor vehicles were impounded by law enforcement for safety checks. At this time, there have not been criminal charges filed. The accident is under investigation.
