Suffolk County Police

BAY SHORE, Long Island, New York — Suffolk Police have arrested a suspect in an unsolved hit-and-run accident. According to a report appearing in the Daily Voice from Nassau, Suffolk County Police apprehended a 78-year-old man from Bay Shore and charged him with the hit-and-run crash. The incident happened around 6:15 a.m. in Bay Shore. Police released a photograph of the suspect’s vehicle obtained from surveillance cameras in the area of the crash.  The woman, who is 74-years-old and also from Bay Shore, sustained critical injuries in the accident and remained hospitalized. The 78-year-old man charged with the crime is slated to appear on March 3, 2020, in a Central Islip Court.

Suffolk County Police responded to the area of Moffitt Boulevard and Brentwood Road for a report of a person down in the road after being struck by a car. Police believed she was hit while walking along Moffitt Boulevard. EMS transported the woman to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore. The hospital listed the 74-year-old female victim in critical condition. The hospital did not disclose the nature of the woman’s injuries.

Police scoured the area looking for evidence that would lead them to identify the vehicle and the driver who fled the scene after the crash. Suffolk County Police pulled surveillance video from different locations around the scene of the cash, which was on Moffitt Avenue.

Two days after the crash, investigators from the Suffolk County Police Department released a surveillance video to the media for general broadcast with the anticipation that someone might identify the offender and the vehicle. Officers said that the car involved was a red-colored sports utility vehicle. Police said that they expected the car to show front end damage. They also said that the suspect car drove westerly on Moffitt Boulevard and then headed south on Brentwood Road.

By the following day, the police named a suspect and placed him in custody. They also seized the man’s red 2013 Toyota Venza and impounded the vehicle to look for evidence.

Excellent law firm. I never had to leave the house. The researchers went to both the hospital and my own home to collect all the required information and followed up on the entire process. Don't make a bad decision by choosing this firm. The solution was convenient and quite fast compared to other nearby experiences. Linda and Jorge were very attentive to the entire process and were very concerned about a prompt resolution. Many thanks to your firm and your excellent secretaries and legal representatives Linda and Jorge from the Parker Waichman LLP firm. Congratulations on your efficient service.
