Fatal motorcycle accident
According to a news article posted on nydailynews.com, a motorcyclist was fatally hit by an overturning sport utility vehicle on Franklin D. Roosevelt East River Drive in Manhattan. The victim, a 40-year-old motorcyclist, was traveling southbound in the left lane along Franklin D. Roosevelt East River Drive when his motorcycle was struck by a Honda HR-V SUV close to E. 36th St. in Midtown. The fatal motorcycle collision occurred at approximately 11 p.m., according to police reports.
The accident news report says that the Honda HR-V SUV struck a street median, flipped over, and then hit the motorcyclist. The motorcyclist was then thrown from his motorcycle resulting in life-threatening injuries.
Emergency medical personnel transported the motorcyclist to Bellevue Hospital. However, the motorcyclist tragically passed away. The victim’s name was not made public.
The driver of the Honda HR-V SUV, a 25-year-old woman, sustained personal injuries, and she was transported to Bellevue Hospital for treatment of her injuries. She is expected to survive the accident. Law enforcement officers did not state whether or not criminal charges would be filed.
