According to an article post on nypost.com and several other news websites, a 53-year-old woman was tragically killed in a hit-and-run pedestrian accident at Glenwood Road and E. 55th St. in East Flatbush, New York. The driver, a man from Crown Heights, struck the victim fled the scene driving the wrong way after hitting the victim who was attempting to cross the street. The pedestrian accident occurred at approximately 10:15 in the morning on Wednesday. The pedestrian accident occurred in the area of Glenwood Road and E. 55th Street in East Flatbush, New York.
The driver, a 22-year-old man, was driving his Hyundai and was involved in a minor fender bender accident with a black BMW. The 22-year-old man fled the fender bender accident by driving southbound along E. 55th Street and in the wrong direction.
The black BMW driver, a 44-year-old man, chased after the suspect, who took several turns as he tried to flee the driver in the BMW. As the suspect tried to get away, he hit a 53-year-old woman who was attempting to cross the street.
Emergency medical services technicians transported the victim to Kings County Hospital, but she passed away due to her injuries. The suspect was charged with reckless driving, assault, and manslaughter.
According to the Assistant District Attorney working the case, the suspect was speeding, and he was hit while speeding through an intersection, and he was T-boned by a motor vehicle that had a green light and the right of way. The suspect’s car then lost control and spun into the victim, who was “legally walking across the street in the crosswalk.” The suspect’s vehicle then hit the victim and threw the woman into a parked vehicle.
The victim was transported by EMS to Kings County Hospital, where she passed away. Police charged the suspect with assault, manslaughter, and reckless driving.
