Hit and run pedestrian
BRIDGEPORT, NY – August 18, 2020 – According to an online news report posted on News12.com, Bridgeport police are searching for a motorist who struck a 14-year-old child with their motor vehicle and then left the scene of the pedestrian accident. The accident occurred on Saturday evening. A surveillance camera video recorded a silver SUV hit the boy while he was walking along Connecticut Avenue and attempting to cross Union Avenue.
An eyewitness to the pedestrian accident with injuries stated that he and one more eyewitness ran over to the boy to offer the child assistance. The man who was working at Best Bet Auto at the time of the accident stated that he was shocked that the driver did not stop after hitting the child with their SUV. The child’s friend helped the boy return home. His friend carried the boy and stated that the victim was knocked out. The mother of the boy call 911 and stated that she saw bruises on his body and that her son was in and out of consciousness. The mother stated that her son suffered two fractured ribs and a concussion. She said that she feels thankful that her son did not pass away, and she thanked God that her son is still with her. The mother stated that she was asking for the driver to please come forward and turn themself into law enforcement. She stated a message to the driver, “You hit my child, you left him on the street, and you didn’t give a damn about him; please come forward, you can at least do that.”
The boy is at home after receiving medical care. The mother stated that her son is still in a lot of pain, but he is recovering from the accident injuries. One witness stated that they might have a license plate number of the suspect’s SUV. Bridgeport police are asking anyone with information to contact them.
