According to an online news report posted on nydailynews.com, a construction worker was tragically killed in a hit-and-run accident a few blocks from home in Manhattan, New York. The news report states that the construction worker who was walking home from pulling a double-shift was struck by a car. According to the police statements cited in the news report, the car’s driver then crashed, jumped out of the motor vehicle, and then fled the scene of the accident on foot.
The victim, a 52-year-old man, was attempting to cross near the corner of Third Avenue and E. 110th Street at approximately 12:30 in the morning. As the victim was crossing the street, a 2020 Honda Accord crashed into the victim. The driver of the Honda Accord continued to head down Third Avenue until the driver lost control over the vehicle and crash on East 115th Street, according to police.
The police officers who responded to the fatal pedestrian accident discovered the victim on the roadway. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
According to the victim’s wife, the victim has been described as a South American father of four children who worked hard to provide for his family back home. He was a very loving and responsible man.
The news report states that law enforcement is investigating the case, but no arrests have been made.
