FARMINGDALE, Long Island, N.Y. — A lunchtime trip to the Subway in Farmingdale on a recent Saturday afternoon was anything but ordinary. Around 1:45 p.m., a small Honda sports utility vehicle plowed through the front window and wall of a Subway sandwich shop. An eight-year-old girl who was getting lunch sustained injuries in the incident. Police did not arrest the driver. However, the police have no concluded their investigation and charges still could be filed if warranted by the evidence. The injured girl is expected to recover from her injuries, according to the Farmingdale Patch.

First responders from the Bethpage Fire Department reported that the eight-year-old girl was lucky to survive the crash. First responders said that shattered window glass showered the girl. She sustained lacerations that required medical attention. Additionally, a table in the restaurant struck her in the head. Medics were concerned that the girl suffered a head injury. Consequently, they transported her to a local hospital for medical treatment and observation. The hospital said she needed treatment for injuries described as non-life threatening. There was no information given whether anyone else was hurt or whether the driver sustained any injuries in the accident. No information was provided concerning the number of people in the Subway at the time of the crash.

Photographs appearing in the Patch depicting the scene of the crash show that this incident could have easily been much more devastating. The Honda SUV appeared to have climbed two concrete steps that run the length of the Subway. The step concrete steps lead from the parking lot to the front door of the restaurant.  The SUV destroyed the front of the building and wrecked parking signs and posts outside of the store as well.

Nassau County Police responded to investigate the crash. They did not arrest the driver. There was no information about their plans to bring formal charges.

Although this process has been long, I have been very fortunate to have Christina Morace assigned to my claim. From the beginning, she has been able to answer all of my questions and lead me along through the process of submitting documents. She answers all questions whether by phone or email in a timely manner. Tina is extremely professional and has a very personal manner in dealing with the complicated aspects of the WTC Victims Compensation Fund claim. I feel totally comfortable with her and highly recommend her to any other claimants who may be going through this process.

Sometimes it's hard todo anything else but my basic day to day stuff. They have made this process very easy for me. All I've really had todo is provide some information and they have handled everything else. I greatly appreciate their services and would refer them to anyone. Also, they remembered my birthday this past September. They sent me a card. Most of my friends don't remember my birthday. To me, that was going out of their way just to brighten my day and I really appreciated it.
