A recall has been implemented by Baby Jogger LLC, of Richmond, Virginia, for Baby Jogger Jump Seats, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and Health Canada (HC), just announced.
About 1,545 Baby Jogger Jump Seats have been recalled in the United States; 450 have been recalled in Canada. The recalled products were manufactured in China.
If the Jump Seat does not properly lock into place, the CPSC said, the defective product could disengage from the stroller allowing the child to fall out.
To date, Baby Jogger has received four reports of children falling from the recalled product, including reports of scrapes, bruises, cuts, and one report of a broken nose.
The recalled Baby Jogger Jump Seat is a fabric seat accessory with the name “Baby Jogger” imprinted on the front and is attached to the mounting bracket on the frame of a Baby Jogger City Elite, Baby Jogger City Classic, or Baby Jogger Summit stroller. The item number—J7J50—is printed on the product packaging.
The accessory enables a toddler and baby to ride simultaneously in the same stroller.
The recalled Baby Jogger Jump Seats were sold at juvenile products stores, mass merchandisers, and department stores nationwide and on the Internet from January 2008 through July 2010 for about $100.
The CPSC is advising consumers to immediately stop using the Jump Seat and contact Baby Jogger to receive Jump Seat safety straps and assembly instructions. The CPSC notes that it is illegal to resell or to attempt to resell a recalled consumer product.
