Over 10,000 Bugaboo Chameleon3 Strollers have been recalled due to a fall hazard, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) just announced.

According to the Commission, a carrying handle on the Bugaboo stroller can break and detach, which poses a fall hazard. The Bugaboo Cameleon3 strollers have a removable U-shaped carry handle. This handle, explained the Denver Channel, can be used to transport the bassinet or seat separate from the chassis.

The CPSC advises consumers in possession of the recalled Bugaboo Cameleon3 Strollers to remove the carry handle and contact the company for a replacement. In the interim, parents and caretakers may continue to use the seat or bassinet when attached to the chassis, the Denver Channel said.

The recalled Bugaboo Cameleon3 strollers are marked with serial numbers from 19010 11153 00001 to 19010 51248 00215. These numbers can be found on a horizontal bar of the stroller’s chassis, which is beneath the seat, said the Denver Channel.

The defective Bugaboo Chameleon3 Strollers were sold at Buy Buy Baby, Toys R Us, Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom, Bugaboo.com, and others from September 2012 to March 2013. The strollers retailed for between $889 and $1,600 each.

Earlier this year, the CPSC announced that more than 50,000 Bugaboo strollers were recalled over risk of serious injury. In that case, the Cameleon and Donkey model baby strollers were involved because the carrycot/seat carry handle could become disengaged and cause the handle to detach. A child being carried in one of the recalled strollers was at risk for falling or choking and Bugaboo received 58 reports of the carry handle on either of these models detaching; no injuries were reported at the time of the recall.

Approximately 46,300 of the recalled strollers were sold in the United States and another 4,400 were sold in Canada. The recalled Bugaboo Cameleon and Donkey Strollers were sold at retail stores, such as Buy Buy Baby, Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom, and Toys R Us. Bugaboo International also sold the strollers on its website.

Prior to that recall, Bugaboo America recalled about 64,000 car seat adapters and strollers for fall hazard. Some 7,000 Bugaboo Bee Strollers were recalled in the U.S.; another 260 were recalled in Canada. In that case, the front swivel wheels on the Bugaboo Bee Stroller could lock while the stroller was in motion, causing the stroller to tip and posing a fall hazard. As of the time of the recall, four incidents were reported in which the stroller’s swivel wheels locked and the stroller tipped over. In two of those incidents, a baby and a toddler suffered minor injuries.

I contacted Parker Waichman a little over 2 years ago in regards to a WTC claim. PW informed me, at that time, that I had to register with the WTC Health Plan. Well, this led to 2 years of patience, health exams and time (on both my part and PW's part) to have my health conditions certified. Directly following certification, Nicole Copertino quickly pushed my claim through with diligence and expert professionalism. I truly appreciate her care and concern for me. I look forward to a positive outcome. Duly note her expertise and talent. Thank You Nicole. Looking forward to working with you through to the outcome.
