A car crashed through a Staten Island store after the driver lost control of a vehicle this week.
The establishment, Life Uniform Store, sells medical scrubs and uniforms, according to NBC New York. Life Uniform Store is located on Richmond Avenue in Staten Island, New York. According to authorities, the driver suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene of the accident. There were no other injuries reported.
The driver apparently lost control of the vehicle, a gray Volkswagen Passat, before crashing into the store, which is located in the New Springville strip mall. The accident occurred at about 2:40 p.m. on Wednesday. The Passat jumped the curb and crashed into the storefront destroying the entrance and plowing into clothing racks, according to SILive.
The police removed the driver and two passengers; the store’s power and the car were disabled and the car was removed. One witness said a woman drove the car, but her age was undetermined. Another witness, an employee at an area business, told SIL Live that, “I was looking through the window next store—and boom! The car went full speed into the store…. I thought I had a heart attack.”
In another storefront accident, the Wedding Agent, a bridal shop located in upstate New York, had to be closed Monday after a car plowed into the store at about 11:10 a.m. on Tuesday, according to The Buffalo News.
The police said the crash caused several people to suffer minor injuries. The driver said he lost control of his vehicle when he was making a turn in front of the store, The Buffalo News reported.
In New Jersey, a Ford Mustang crashed through a storefront, leading to shattering glass, cracks to the brick exterior, and store closure, according to NJ Hills. The store, Pet Valu on Main Street in New Jersey’s Chatham Township, reported that there were no injuries to animals or people, although there were pets on view in the front window, which was meant to drive adoptions.
According to the police, the vehicle, operated by a 78-year-old Madison man, struck the building’s front. The police determined that the man was pulling to a parking spot and his foot slipped from the brake pedal, landing on the accelerator pedal. The man was issued a summons that charged him with careless driving, wrote NJ Hills.
Also according to NJ Hills, the accident, along with a strong thunderstorm at the time, may have caused a four-car, chain-collision, fender-bender across from the store.
