Children’s Play Theaters are being recalled for a tip over hazard, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and Health Canada (HC) just announced.
About 1,000 4-in-1 Dramatic Play Theater Toys have been recalled in the United States; another 350 were recalled in Canada. The 4-in-1 Dramatic Play Theater Toys were manufactured in China by the Mega Profit Trading Ltd., of China; imported by Guidecraft Inc., of Winthrop, Minnesota; and sold by various catalogs, Guidecraft.com, and other Internet retailers, nationwide, from July 2010 through April 2011 for about $180.
The recalled 4-in-1 Dramatic Play Theater Toys can unexpectedly tip over during play, posing an entrapment hazard to young children. To date, Guidecraft has received two reports of tip-over incidents, including one report of a child who suffered minor contusions and abrasions.
This recall involves all 4-in-1 Dramatic Play Theaters with model number G51062, which is printed on a sticker affixed to the bottom of the center crossbar and on the assembly instructions. The 4-in-1 Dramatic Play Theater has two interchangeable panels with different themes on each side: A puppet theater and diner, or a doctor’s office and post office. An assembled 4-in-1 Dramatic Play Theater measures four-feet high by three-feet wide and weighs about 46 pounds.
The firm advises consumers to immediately take the recalled 4-in-1 Dramatic Play Theater from children and contact Guidecraft to receive a refund or a replacement product. Guidecraft can be reached, toll-free, at 1.888.824.1308 between 9:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Central Time (CT), Monday through Friday, or the firm’s website at www.guidecraft.com.
