The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) just announced a recall of about 800 <"https://www.yourlawyer.com/practice_areas/product_liability">Golf Cars and Hospitality, Utility, and Transport Vehicles.
The defective Golf Cars and Hospitality, Utility, and Transport Vehicles were manufactured in the United States by Club Car LLC, of Augusta, Georgia and sold at authorized Club Car dealers nationwide between April 2011 and May 2011 for between $6,000 and $11,000.
Previously, the CPSC announced a similar recall of 5,000 of these vehicles over defective brake pedal welds. That recall notice can be accessed here.
This recall was implemented because the brake pedal mounting blocks on the defective Club Car Golf Cars and Hospitality, Utility, and Transport Vehicles can crack and separate, resulting in a loss of braking ability. This can result in a crash. To date, Club Car not received any reports of brake pedal mounting blocks breaking in the field; no injuries have been reported.
Regardless, the CPSC advises consumers to stop using the recalled Club Cars and to contact the firm to receive free brake pedal replacement mounting blocks. Club Car is contacting all known owners of the recalled vehicles and can be reached, toll-free, at 1.800.227.0739 ext. 3580 between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time (ET) Monday through Friday or at the firm’s website at www.clubcar.com.
The recalled vehicles are model 2011 DS Club Car Golf Cars and Hospitality, Utility, and Transport Vehicles, which are meant for short-distance transportation. The Club Car has various models, colors, and sizes including 2-to-6 passenger seating vehicles. The vehicles can be identified by the serial number, which is above and to the right of the accelerator pedal.
