The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) just announced a recall for children’s beach chairs due to laceration hazard.
About 15,400 Folding Beach Chairs are involved in the recalled. The defective Folding Beach Chairs were manufactured in China by Downeast Concepts Inc., doing business as (DBA) Backyard and Beyond, of Yarmouth, Maine and sold at Home Goods and other stores, nationwide, from June 2011 through June 2012. The Folding Beach Chairs sold for $13-$25.
The recalled children’s Folding Beach Chairs have exposed, sharp metal rivets, which pose a laceration hazard. To date, the firm is aware of one injury to a 21-month-old girl who fell on the chair’s metal rivets and cut her forehead. She required stitches.
The recalled children’s folding beach chairs are constructed with white aluminum tube frames; pink, yellow, blue, or purple fabric seats; and chair backs with fish, palm trees, or mermaid decorations. The chairs measure 13 inches in width, by 18 inches in height, by 20 inches in depth.
The firm advises consumers to stop using the recalled children’s Folding Beach Chairs and immediately and return them to Downeast Concepts for a full refund.
