About 550 Cummins Power Generators have been recalled due to fire hazard, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) just announced. The recalled Cummins Power Generators were manufactured in China by Loncin Industries Ltd., of China and imported by Cummins Power Generation, of Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Fuel can leak through the carburetor during normal usage, posing a <"https://www.yourlawyer.com/practice_areas/product_liability">fire hazard to consumers. To date, the firm has received 25 reports of fuel leakage. No injuries or property damage have been reported.
This recall involves Cummins Onan Portable Generators. “Cummins Onan” and the model number are printed on the front of the generator. The serial number is printed on the generator’s name plate. Only generators manufactured on or after June 2009 and before December 2009 are included in this recall. Model numbers involved are P5350, P5350c, P5450e, P5450ec, and P5550e with serial numbers F09 through L09.
The recalled Cummins Olan Portable Generators were sold by authorized dealers nationwide from June 2009 through February 2010 for between $700 and $1,100.
The CPSC is advising consumers to immediately stop using the recalled generators and contact Cummins for a full refund plus a $100 check. All known users have been contacted by the firm.
