Decorative Mini Light sets have been recalled by Family Dollar Stores for shock and fire hazards, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) just announced.
The light sets do not meet the UL standard for this product and pose a fire and shock risk. About 280,000 packages of 200 Mini Lights are involved in the recall, following three reports of overheating. To date, no injuries or property damage were reported.
The 200 Mini Light packages were manufactured in China; imported by Family Dollar Services, Inc., of Matthews, North Carolina; and sold exclusively at Family Dollar stores from September 2011 through December 2011 for $8.
The recalled decorative Mini Light sets have the words “200 Mini Lights” and “Multi Lights, Green Wire” printed on its red box. The product is identified by SKU # 2211428 and UPC # 049696720465, which can be found on the back of the package. The product contains labels attached to a tag on the power cord with UL Listing # E346525 and Model # F0L200A4S.
The firm advises consumers to immediately stop using the recalled Mini Light sets and return the product to a Family Dollar store for a full refund. Family Dollar Stores can be reached, toll-free, at 1.800.547.0359 between 8:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, or at the firm’s web site—in the “Help” section at www.familydollar.com.
