Due to the presence of mold, snack brand GoGo squeeZ is voluntarily recalling pouches of applesauce. The affected products, which were made in the US, have a “best before date” between June 30, 2016 and July 26, 2016. The company says the mold is not dangerous, but consumers who have the affected products should not consume them. To request a product replacement voucher, customers can visit their website or call the company at 1-844-275-5841.
According to the company’s website, the mold only affects products with the aforementioned “best by” dates. GoGo squeeZ says it “discovered a production quality issue in a small number of pouches during a specific time period. It involves a common mold (like what can form on fruit). An independent lab tested the mold and an expert microbiologist determined that it poses no known health risk.”
The company says it is working with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to conduct the recall. According to its website, it is also exploring the possibility of clear pouches.
