The baby and child product company Evenflo has recalled more than 56,000 child safety seats because in one of its modes, the child can loosen the internal harness, and will not be properly secured in the seat, increasing the risk of injury in a crash.

The recall involves about 56,000 Transitions Three-in-One Combination Booster Seats with model numbers 34411686, 34411695 and 34411029, manufactured from December 18, 2014 through January 29, 2016, according to CBS New York.

Evenflo says that when the seat is used in the forward-facing harness mode, the child can get access to the seat’s Central Front Adjuster and loosen the harness straps. The harness would not be snug, as it should be, putting the child at increased risk for injury in a crash, CBS explains. Parents and caregivers can visit the Evenflo web site to see if their child’s seat is part of the recall.

The Transition Three-in-One Combination Booster Seat has three different modes but the problem affects the seat only when it is used as a forward-facing harnessed booster. The problem does not occur in either the high-back belt-positioning mode or the no-back belt-positioning mode, CBS says.

Evenflo says no injuries have been reported to date. The company discovered the problem in late January through an analysis of consumer feedback about the seats, according to CBS. Evenflo is working closely with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), and is notifying registered owners of the recall by mail. Evenflo is also sending notices to retailers and posting updates on social media sites.

Evenflo will provide owners with a free repair kit with a new seat pad and front adjuster assembly to correct the harness problem. Owners of affected Transitions Three-in-One Combination Booster Seats can contact Evenflo at 1-800-233-5921, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time, or at http://www.transitions.evenflo.com to order the free repair kit.

My sister was exposed to 9/11 toxins and developed several types of cancer. She chose Parker Waichman to engage the September 11th Victim Compensation Fund and was assigned Tina Morace as her paralegal. Tina was helpful, professional and compassionate in helping us gather medical records and other important information required for the case. Tina was clear and concise in followup queries from the Fund and was quick to respond to our questions. When my sister's condition deteriorated and she passed, Tina was so thoughtful, patient and helpful when I had to address continued Fund followup questions. I will always be thankful for having Tina in our lives. She helped make my sister's last years easier in this aspect. And she was a knowledgeable friend to me, assisting in information gathering and consoling me in my loss. Thank you Parker Waichman. Thank you Tina Morace. Thank you Tina Morace.
