About 15,000 <"https://www.yourlawyer.com/practice_areas/product_liability">Hickory Handle Sledge Hammers have been recalled by importer White Cap Construction Supply Inc., of Costa Mesa, California, due to risk of injury, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) just announced. The CPSC is advising consumers to stop using the recalled products immediately and notes that it is illegal to resell or attempt to resell a recalled consumer product.
Although no incidents or injuries have been reported, the head of the sledgehammer can loosen and detach, posing a risk of impact injury to consumers.
This recall involves Brigade sledgehammers with a hickory wood handle. There are 11 models included in this recall, ranging in size from two to 20 pounds. A green and white label with the word “Brigade†and the model name is affixed to the head of the sledgehammer, and “Genuine Hickory†is printed on the handle. The recalled Hickory Handle Sledge Hammers, which were manufactured in India, sold for between $12 and $47 at White Cap Construction Supply distributors nationwide from April 2009 through May 2010.
The CPSC is advising consumers to immediately stop using the recalled sledgehammers and return the product to White Cap Construction Supply for a full refund or exchange.
