A large recall of BUSA Children’s Folding Tents, sold by IKEA, has been implemented over laceration and puncture hazards, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and Health Canada (HC) just announced.
About 51,000 of IKEA’s BUSA Children’s Folding Tents are being recalled in the United States; another 7,000 defective tents are being in recalled in Canada.
The defective BUSA Children’s Folding Tents were manufactured in Vietnam; imported by IKEA North America Service, of Conshohocken, Pennsylvania; and sold exclusively at IKEA stores, nationwide, from August 2011 through September 2011. The recalled IKEA BUSA tents sold for about $8.
The steel wire frame of IKEA’s BUSA Children’s Folding Tent can break, producing sharp wire ends that can protrude through the tent fabric, which poses a laceration or puncture hazard. To date, three incidents were reported, including one injury. No incidents were reported in the United States or Canada.
The recalled IKEA BUSA Children’s Folding Tent is a cube-shaped children’s folding tent with model number 90192009. The brand name BUSA and IKEA and the model number are printed on a sewn-in label attached to an interior seam in the tent. The tent frame is made of flat steel wire and the tent material is pale green polyester fabric with turquoise, pink, and white trim. The tent is 28 ¼-inches in length, 28 ¼-inches in width, and 28 ¼-inches in height.
IKEA advises consumers to immediately take the defective BUSA Children’s Folding Tent away from children and return the tent to their nearest IKEA store for a full refund. IKEA can be reached, toll-free, at 1.888.966.4532 any time, or at its Web site at http://www.ikea-usa.com.
