IKEA just issued a recalled of <"https://www.yourlawyer.com/practice_areas/product_liability">RUND Clear Glass Mugs due to laceration hazard, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and Health Canada (HC) just announced. The agencies are also advising consumers to stop using the recalled RUND Clear Glass Mugs immediately and notes that it is illegal to resell or to attempt to resell a recalled consumer product.
About 13,000 RUND Clear Glass Mugs have been recalled with an additional 115,000 recalled mugs sold outside the U.S., including 3,000 in Canada.
The recalled RUND Clear Glass Mugs were manufactured in China and distributed by IKEA Home Furnishings, of Conshohocken, Pennsylvania.
The inner walls of the double-walled RUND Clear Glass Mugs can break during use, posing a laceration hazard to consumers. To date, IKEA has received one report of a laceration injury requiring medical attention. Eleven additional incidents have been reported outside of the U.S., resulting in four reports of injuries.
This recall involves RUND clear glass mugs sold in sizes 4cl, 21cl, and 40cl. The mug is handmade of double-walled glass. “Hand Made Quality” is printed on a small transparent sticker on the side of the mug. Article numbers and supplier numbers listed are located on the package. All sizes were sold in two-packs. Supplier number 16790 applies to all of these recalled RUND Clear Glass Mugs. Article numbers are:
• Mug Size 4cl: Article number 301-551-37
• Mug Size 21cl: Article number 301-496-79
• Mug Size 40cl: Article number 501-496-78
The recalled RUND Clear Glass Mugs were sold exclusively at IKEA stores nationwide from October 2009 through March 2010 for between $5 and $10.
