Importer Montessori N’ Such of Sterling, Virginia, recalled about 1,000 Metal Vases, Pails, and Other Containers used in instructional kits because surface paints on the products contain excessive levels of lead, violating the federal lead paint standard. The recalled metal containers are instructional materials for use in the classroom. The item number is printed on the product’s packaging and the recall includes only the colors and item numbers listed below:

The lead-tainted Montessori N’ Such Metal Vases, Pails, and Other Containers, which were made in China, were sold through the company’s Website to schools and individuals nationwide from July 2006 through January 2009 for between $2.50 and $7 per item. The CPSC is urging consumers to immediately take the recalled products away from children and contact Montessori N’ Such for a free replacement or refund; all known purchasers have been contacted. FloraCraft Educational Craft Kits
About 930,000 Solar System and DNA Educational Craft Kits have been recalled by FloraCraft Corporation of Ludington, Michigan over violation of the lead paint standard because the surface coating on the educational kit’s wires can contain excessive levels of lead, violating the federal lead paint standard. This recall involves the “Solar System†and the “DNA†children’s educational craft kits sold under the FloraCraft and HYGLOSS brand names. The kits contain green-coated wires that measure 14 ½ inches long and Styrofoam shapes. The following model numbers—which are located on the kit’s packaging—are included in this recall: Solar System Kit/Model Numbers: SS2003, SS101, 59901, and SS2003P; DNA Kit/Model Numbers: DNA2003, 59903, and DNA2003P.
The recalled Solar System and DNA Educational Craft Kits—which were manufactured in the United States and China—were sold at Wal-Mart, Michaels, Jo-Ann Stores, Hobby Lobby, and other retailers nationwide from January 2003 through February 2009 for between $10 and $30. The CPSC is urging consumers to immediately take the craft kit’s wires away from children and contact FloraCraft to obtain free replacements. In children and fetuses, lead exposure can cause brain and nervous system damage, behavioral and learning problems, slowed growth, hearing problems, headaches, mental and physical retardation, and behavioral and other health problems.
