Around 8:35 a.m. on Sunday, October 9, a 19-year-old man from Westbury, New York (on Long Island) was killed when his vehicle struck a tree.
Nassau County police Third Squad reports that Quentin Abram Westbury was driving a 2002 Toyota at a high rate of speed, going south on Merrick Avenue, when he crossed into the northbound lane and struck a tree, according to Newsday.
Abram suffered severe internal bleeding. He was taken to a local hospital, where a hospital physician pronounced him dead at 9:16 a.m.
The police impounded the vehicle for a safety check and brake inspection. According to a police statement, there is no apparent criminality involved in the accident, but the investigation is ongoing.
