On January 7, 2016, Milky Way International Trading Corp. announced the recall of Nice! Mandarin Oranges in 8-ounce jars because there may be glass fragments in the jars.
Consumers could be cut or injured if they ingest glass, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) says. To date there have been three complaints about glass in the product, and one alleged injury reported.
The recalled mandarin oranges were distributed to Walgreens stores nationwide. A list of lot numbers and UPC codes for the recalled jars, and photos of the product, can be found on the FDA web site. The agency said the recall is limited to specific production codes of 8-ounce Nice! Brand Mandarin Oranges in Light Syrup. The lot code is located at either the neck or the lid of the glass bottles.
According to the recall announcement, the company is conducting the voluntary recall in in cooperation with the Food and Drug Administration. Walgreens has removed the product from its store shelves.
