<"https://www.yourlawyer.com/practice_areas/product_liability">Silver Tree Tealight Candle Holders have been recalled for fire hazard, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and Health Canada (HC), just announced. The agencies are advising consumers to stop using recalled products immediately and note that it is illegal to resell or to attempt to resell a recalled consumer product.
About 7,600 Silver Tree Tealight Candle Holders have been recalled in the United States and about 650 have been recalled in Canada.
The tealight cups are positioned where the flame from the candles can ignite other parts of the candleholder, posing fire and burn hazards to consumers. To date, Michaels has received reports of six incidents including five fires and a consumer who received minor burns.
This recall involves silver-colored tealight candleholders in a shape of a Christmas tree. The candleholders are about 16-inches tall and have a silver star on the top. Nine tealight cups and clear plastic beads hang from the tree branches.
The recalled Silver Tree Tealight Candle Holders, which were manufactured in China, were sold at Michaels Arts & Craft stores nationwide from October 2010 through December 2010 for about $20 and were distributed by Michaels Stores Inc., of Irving, Texas.
The CPSC is advising consumers to immediately stop using the recalled candleholders and return the product to any Michaels Arts & Craft store for a full refund. Michaels can be reached, toll-free, at 1.800.642-4235 between 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m., Central Time, Monday through Saturday, and 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Central Time on Sunday.
