Night lights sold at Target have been recalled for potential burn hazard, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) just announced.
About 260,000 Energizer Rotating Night Lights are being recalled because they can overheat and smoke, which poses a burn hazard to consumers.
The defective Energizer Rotating Night Lights were manufactured in China by Ningbo Sun-alps Industry Develop Co. Ltd, of China; imported by Energizer of St. Louis, Missouri; and sold exclusively at Target stores, nationwide, from February 2010 through July 2012. The recalled night lights sold for about $6.
To date, Energizer has received nine reports of the night lights overheating. This includes three reports of minor property damage. No injuries have been reported.
The recall involves Energizer LED rotating night lights that are white and have an LED light inside an adjustable dome on its top. The night lights measure about two inches in width by 2 ½ inches in length. The model number “NLPLROT” and date codes between 0110 (January 2010) through 0111 (January 2011) are included in this recall.
The model number can be found stamped on the side of the night light; the date code is stamped in a circle on the back of the night light. The arrow points to the month of production (for instance, “12” equals December). The number positioned on either side of the arrow represents the year (for instance, “10” equals 2010).
The firm advises consumers to immediately stop using and unplug the recalled night lights and contact Energizer for instructions on returning the night lights for a $7 coupon towards the purchase of an Energizer product.
