A passenger was killed in a two-car accident on State Route 22 in Patterson, New York, on Wednesday, April 29 just before 4 p.m.
New York State Police from the Brewster barracks responded to the accident, which occurred on State Route 22, just north of State Route 311, Hudson Valley News Network reports. Police say a 2003 GMC pick-up truck, driven by Christopher C. Osborne, Jr., 42, of Pawling, New York, was traveling northbound on State Route 22. Mario Riccobon, 65, was driving south in a 2015 Subaru Forester on State Route 22. Police say Osborne crossed the double yellow lines into the southbound lane and struck the Subaru head-on.
Jean Riccobon, 63, of Carmel, who was a passenger in the Subaru Forester, was pronounced dead at the scene by Transcare EMS. Mr. Riccobon was taken to Danbury Hospital; his injuries do not appear to be life threatening, according to HVNN. The police were assisted at the scene by the Patterson Fire Department, Transcare EMS, and the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office.
The New York State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit closed Route 22 for several hours as they attempted to reconstruct the crash. The cause of the crash is still under investigation, HVNN reports. Police ask anyone with information about the crash itself, or the moments just before the crash up to the crash, to contact the State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation in Brewster (845- 677-7300).
Police said they will release additional information on the New York State Police Newsroom as it becomes available.
