Origin8 Folding Bicycles Recalled for Injury Hazard

On December 30, 2015, the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced the recall of Origin8 folding bicycles, which can pose a fall hazard.

The recall announcement explains that the frame on the folding bicycles can break, posing a fall hazard for the rider.

This recall involves three models, the F1, F3 and F7.  The F1 model is a single-speed folding bike. It came in matte black and can be identified by the F1 on the top tube. The F3 model is a three-speed folding bike, which came in white and has F3 on the top tube. The F7 is a seven-speed folding bike in battleship gray and can be identified by F7 on the top tube. The serial number is located on the bottom tube, near the bike pedals. The bicycles were sold by independent bicycle dealers nationwide between August 2012 and October 2015. Prices ranged from $370 to $480.

A listing of the serial number ranges included in the recall can be found on the CPSC web site. The recalled bicycles were manufactured in China and imported by J&B Importers, Inc., of Miami, Fla.

The CPSC advises consumers with affected bikes to stop using the bicycles immediately and return them to the place of purchase for a free replacement bicycle.
