About 1,400 BT SA-17 Paintball Gun/Markers have been recalled, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) just announced. The CPSC is advising consumers to stop using this recalled product and notes that it is illegal to resell or to attempt to resell an item subject to a product recall.
The defective product was manufactured in Taiwan and imported by KEE Action Sports LLC, of Sewell, New Jersey.
When users attempt to pierce the CO2 cartridge by closing the lever to the cartridge chamber, the cartridge can fly out of the marker, posing an injury hazard to consumers, a product liability issue. To date, no incidents or injuries have been reported.
The marker is made of aluminum and resembles a pistol. It is black with model number BT SA-17 printed on both sides. It uses a horizontally-fed magazine and requires a 12g CO2 cartridge.
The recalled BT-SA 17 Paintball Gun/Markers were sold for about $130 at paintball fields/arenas, stores, and retailers from May 2010 through August 2010.
The CPSC, in addition to advising consumers to immediately stop using the recalled paintball markers, is advising consumers that they can return the Recalled Product to KEE or the retailer from which the BT-SA 17 Paintball Gun/Markers were purchased for a free repair, or contact KEE for the repair parts and installation instructions.
