Patio Bistro Sets sold at Lowe’s are being recalled following consumer injuries, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) just announced.
About 16,400 Patio Bistro Sets are being recalled.
The defective Patio Bistro Sets were manufactured in China by the Midas Lin Company Ltd., of China; imported by LG Sourcing, Inc. of North Wilkesboro, North Carolina; and sold exclusively at Lowe’s stores, nationwide, from August 2011 through February 2012. The recalled Patio Bistro Sets retailed for about $98.
When the chair support bar is not fully engaged, the chair poses a fall hazard to a consumer who sits in the partially engaged chair. To date, the firm has received 13 reports of consumers who fell from partially opened chairs, resulting in reports of back injuries, contusions, and scrapes.
This recall involves folding chairs sold as part of a three-piece patio bistro set; each set contains two folding chairs and one folding table. The chairs are constructed with a black steel frame and dark-stained wooden seats and backs. The Model #S658-01, the item # 0355053, and words “Garden Treasures” are printed on the cover of the instruction manual that is sold with the recalled Patio Bistro Sets.
The firm advises consumers to immediately stop using the recalled chairs and contact Midas Lin for a new set of warning labels and supplemental instructions for the chairs. The product, said the firm, is not to be returned to the store.
