A massive recall of about 1 million defective <"https://www.yourlawyer.com/practice_areas/product_liability">Pool and Spa Drain Covers, manufactured by a number of different companies, was just announced by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).
The recalled Pool and Spa Drain Covers, were produced in the United States and China, sold by independent distributors to professional pool and spa builders and installers, and were manufactured by the following companies:
• A&A Manufacturing, of Phoenix, Arizona
• AquaStar Pool Products Inc., of San Diego, California
• Color Match Pool Fittings, of Surprise, Arizona
• Custom Molded Products, of Tyrone, Georgia
• Hayward Pool Products, of Elizabeth, New Jersey
• Pentair Water Pool and Spa, of Sanford, North Carolina
• Rising Dragon USA, of E. Sweetwater, Tennessee
• Waterway Plastics, of Oxnard, California
The recalled drain covers were incorrectly rated to handle the flow of water through the cover, which could pose a possible entrapment hazard to swimmers and bathers. To date, no incidents or injuries have been reported.

Pool owners/operators and consumers in possession of the defective pool or spa drain covers should immediately contact the manufacturer to receive a replacement or retrofit, depending on the make and model involved.
Except for kiddie pools, wading pools, and in-ground spas, retrofit or replacement of installed covers is not required in pools with multiple drain systems or gravity drainage systems or for covers installed before December 19, 2008, the CPSC said.
