The recent recall that affected over 8.7 million pounds of beef is also linked to Nestle’s Philly Steak and Cheese Hot Pockets, Huffington Post reports. Earlier this month, California-based Rancho Feeding Corporation a number of products that were “processed diseased and unsound animals and carried out these activities without the benefit or full benefit of federal inspection. Thus, the products are adulterated, because they are unsound, unwholesome or otherwise are unfit for human food and must be removed from commerce,” the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Services (FSIS) said. The recall was deemed Class I, which is the most serious recall status.
Nestles says that their Hot Pocket recall is being issued because a facility in California has used meat affected by the Rancho recall. The company says it did not buy meat from Rancho directly. Consumers who have Philly Steak and Cheese Hot Pockets should be on the lookout for the following batch numbers affected by the recall:
- Hot Pockets Philly Steak and Cheese in 8×9 oz: 3021544512, 3029544512, 3197544512 and 3240544512.
- Hot Pockets Philly Steak and Cheese in 4×45 oz: 3022544513, 3191544512, 3224544512, 3254544512 and 3268544512.
- Hot Pockets Philly Steak and Cheese in 4×22.5 oz: 3197544512 and 3240544512.
- Hot Pockets Croissant Crust Philly Steak and Cheese in 8×9 oz: 3211544512, 3248544512 and 3283544512.
