Sherwin-Williams is recalling acrylic coating, glaze, and automotive paint due to fire hazard, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) just announced. In all three cases, the aerosol canister can leak, posing a fire hazard to consumers if the can is stored near a source of ignition.
All of the recalled paint sold for about $7 a can and was sold between July 2011 and June 2012.The defective paint was manufactured in the United States and imported by Sherwin-Williams Company, of Cleveland, Ohio.
Sherwin-Williams advises consumers to immediately stop using the recalled coating, glaze, and automotive paint and contact the firm for a refund. About 17,850 cans of Tree House Studio Clear Acrylic Matte Coating are involved in this recall. To date, no incidents or injuries have been reported in connection with this recalled product.
This recall involves 11-ounce cans of Tree House Studio™ Clear Acrylic Matte Coating, which was sold in a white aerosol can with Tree House Studio™ logo and the name “CLEAR ACRYLIC MATTE COATING” printed on the can’s front. The batch date HL2081LT, is printed on the bottom of the can, along with UPC 724504103004. The paint was sold exclusively at Hobby Lobby stores, nationwide.
Krylon® Triple Thick Crystal Clear Glaze and Krylon® Indoor/Outdoor Crystal Clear Acrylic Paint
About 98,400 cans of Krylon® Triple Thick Crystal Clear Glaze and Krylon® Indoor/Outdoor Crystal Clear Acrylic Paint are involved in this recall which, to date, has been associated with 31 reports of leaking canisters, including reports of property damage from leaking paint. No injuries have been reported.
This recall involves 12-ounce cans of Krylon ® Triple Thick Glaze and 11-ounce Krylon® Indoor/Outdoor Crystal Clear satin acrylic finish. Batch code HL1311FV, HL2081KL or HL2081MN is printed on the bottom of the can, along with UPC 075577005000 or 724504035305. The Krylon logo is printed on the front of the white spray can, which is packaged with a translucent top. The recalled Krylon® Triple Thick Crystal Clear Glaze and Krylon® Indoor/Outdoor Crystal Clear Acrylic Paint was sold at Ace Hardware, Ben Franklin, Do It Best Corp., Kmart, Lowes, Pat Catan’s, Walmart, and other retail stores, nationwide.
Dupli-Color® Perfect Match™ Automotive Paint
About 2,700 cans of Dupli-Color® Perfect Match™ Automotive Paint are involved in this recall. To date, no incidents or injuries have been reported.
This recall involves Dupli-Color Perfect Match™ automotive paint in green metallic. The liquid paint was sold in an 8-ounce spray paint can and bears batch code “HL2031LN” and UPC 026916715036 on the bottom of the can. The recalled Dupli-Color® Perfect Match™ Automotive Paint was sold at Advance Auto, Autozone, Discount Auto Parts, General Automotive Supply, NAPA, Pep Boys, and other retail stores.
