The Children’s Place Company LLC, of Secaucus, New Jersey is recalling about 29,000 <"https://www.yourlawyer.com/practice_areas/product_liability">Denim Cargo Shorts, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) just announced.
The metal snaps on the recalled Denim Cargo Shorts could detach, posing a choking hazard. To date, no incidents or injuries have been reported.
This recall involves denim shorts manufactured in China and sold at The Children’s Place with item numbers 567844 or 567967 only. The item number can be found on a sewn-in label located on the side of the shorts. The shorts were sold in sizes 0/3 months to 12 months. Shorts with other item numbers are not included in this recall. The recalled Denim Cargo Shorts were sold exclusively at The Children’s Place Services online store from March 23, 2010 through April 8, 2010 for about $12.
Of note, imports from China into the United States have long been making headlines for issues with defective parts and dangerous elements, including hazardous lead levels in children’s toys and products, parts that can break off and pose choking hazards to children—such as is the case in this recall—and problems with hooded garments with drawstrings that are considered defective and dangerous to children.
Recalls from products manufactured in China have also been associated with unsafe, sometimes deadly, medications, pet and consumer food products, and health items, as well as the ongoing drywall debacle that has been the culprit in untold numbers of cases involving homes across the United States plagued with corroding metals and offensive odors. In many cases the entire gutting of houses has been mandated to correct the problem
The CPSC is advising consumers should immediately take the recalled Denim Cargo Shorts away from children. Ecommerce customers will be mailed a postage-pre-paid envelope with instructions on how to return the shorts for a full refund. The Children’s Place Services can be reached between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time, Monday through Friday at its toll-free number—877-752-2387—or at the firm’s Web site at www.childrensplace.com
