On Thursday morning, an out-of-control SUV crashed into the lobby of a Citibank in Brooklyn. Thankfully, there were no serious injuries. The accident occurred at around 9:22 a.m., when a gray Lexus RX 350 in a parking lot plowed into the Citibank. The vehicle went through the front window, shattering glass all over the floor nearby the ATM machines. The front end of the car ended up inside the bank.
The incident occurred in Flatlands on Ralph Avenue. An FDNY spokesman said that a frantic 911 caller reported that the vehicle went through the building on Ralph avenue near Flatlands Avenue and struck people. Three people at the scene of the accident refused medical aid.
“We heard a loud bang,” said a nearby employee to New York Post. “The fire department came, the cops came.”
According to NBC New York, Citi says that the driver of the SUV accidentally slammed the accelerator instead of the break. The bank issued a statement saying that the safety of its customers is always a top concern.
Another recent accident in Brooklyn left a 12-year-old boy in critical condition with head injuries. According to ABC7, the boy was riding his bicycle to school in the Kensington section of Brooklyn when he collided with a northbound Lexus on Dahill Road. The driver, 24, remained at the scene. There was no evidence of criminality and the boy was wearing a helmet.
