About 13,000 defective Circo Children’s Task Lamps have been recalled, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) just announced.
The recalled Circo Children’s Task Lamps were manufactured in China; imported by Target Corporation, of Minneapolis, Minnesota; and sold exclusively at Target stores nationwide and Target.com from January 2011 to April 2011 for about $13.
The lamps may overheat, causing the adhesive inside the lamp socket to melt and migrate into the bulb area of the socket. The cooled glue can adhere to the light bulb base and make the bulb difficult to remove, which can result in a broken light bulb, posing a risk of laceration to consumers. Also, melted flammable glue that migrates onto the electrical components of the lamp poses a risk of fire.
To date, Target has received six reports of glue on the lamp socket melting and migrating into the bulb area of the socket. No injuries have been reported.
Four styles of the children’s task lamps are included in this recall with the names Striped, Sports, Dot, or Flower Dot and a label with the UPC number on the bottom. The lamps in this recall include:
• Striped: Navy-colored head, with sky blue and white stripes and a blue lamp base. UPC 490970221923.
• Sports: White head, with a baseball stitch pattern and a blue lamp base. UPC 490970222685.
• Dot: White head, with lines of multicolored dots and a lavender lamp base. UPC 490970224047.
• Flower Dot: Pink head, with a pattern of white flowers and leaves and a pink lamp base. UPC 490970221947.
