The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced that Pacific Cycle of Madison, Wisconsin is recalling 129,000 Schwinn-brand infant bicycle helmets. A magnetic buckle on the chin strap can come loose and pose a choking hazard.
The helmet, designed for children from ages one to three, were sold exclusively at Target and Target.com from January 2014 to April 2016. The helmets cost between $18 and $25. Pacific Cycle received three reports of the buckle cover coming loose, but no injuries were reported, according to the CPSC.
The brightly colored helmets are marked with the word Schwinn on the front and come with “no-pinch” chin-strap buckles. The magnetic buckle on the chin strap contains small plastic covers and magnets that can come loose, posing a risk of choking or the child could swallow the magnets.
Consumers who purchased one of these helmets should stop using the helmet and contact Pacific Cycle at 877-564-2261 or cu[email protected] to exchange the helmet for free.
