Tupperware is recalling its Toy Maracas due to choking and suffocation hazards and EB Brands is recalling its Fitness Balls due to a fall hazard, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has just reported. Both <"https://www.yourlawyer.com/practice_areas/product_liability">recalled products were manufactured in China.

Tupperware Toy Maracas
Tupperware U.S. Inc., of Orlando, Florida has recalled about 44,000 Toy Maracas because the maracas can break and expose small parts, posing a choking hazard to young children. Also, the maracas’ handle poses a suffocation hazard to young children. To date, Tupperware has received two reports of maracas breaking. No injuries have been reported. The recalled Toy Maracas were imported from China by Tupperware U.S. Inc.

The recalled Tupperware Toy Maracas are blue and red with yellow handles and were used by Tupperware representatives during sales presentations. Cutouts in the shape of stars, squares, and other geometric figures are located inside the maraca, said the CPSC. The recalled Toy Maracas were sold by Tupperware’s Holiday 2007 and Spring 2008 product catalogs from September 2007 through April 2008 and retailed for between $5.50 and $11.

The CPSC is advising consumers and Tupperware sales consultants to immediately stop using the recalled Toy Maracas and return them to Tupperware for a refund or gift certificate; maraca return forms can be accessed at www.tupperware.com. Tupperware can be reached toll-free at 1-888-887-9273 between 8:30 a.m. and 9:00 p.m. ET Monday through Friday, or at the firm’s Website at www.tupperware.com.

EB Brands Fitness Balls
About three million Fitness Balls imported from China by EB Brands of Yonkers, New York are being recalled due to a fall hazard because an over-inflated fitness ball can unexpectedly burst while in use, causing the user to fall to the floor. To date, EB Brands has received 47 reports of fitness balls unexpectedly bursting, including reports of a fracture, and multiple bruises, said the CPSC.

The EB Brand Fitness Ball recall involves rubber fitness balls sold in 55-, 65-, and 75-cm. diameter sizes; were sold with a pump and inflation instructions; and were sold in a variety of colors with the Bally Total Fitness, Everlast, or Valeo logo printed on the ball. The recalled EB Brand Fitness Balls were sold at department stores and fitness retailers nationwide from May 2000 to February 2009 and sold for between $15 and $30.

The CPSC is advising consumers to contact EB Brands to receive a copy of the updated instructions on how to safely inflate the ball. EB Brands can be contacted toll-free at 1-800-624-5671 between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. ET Monday through Friday, or at the firm’s Website at www.ebbrands.com.
