The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and Health Canada (HC) have announced two product recalls for <"https://www.yourlawyer.com/practice_areas/product_liability">backpack blowers over fire hazard. In both cases, the agencies are advising consumers to stop using the recalled products immediately and note that it is illegal to resell or to attempt to resell a recalled consumer product.
Maruyama U.S. Gasoline-Powered Backpack Blowers and Mister Dusters
About 18,000 backpacks, which were manufactured in Japan, were recalled in the U.S.; 750 were recalled in Canada by Maruyama U.S. Inc., of Denton, Texas. The gasoline tank can split and leak fuel, posing a fire hazard to consumers. To date, Maruyama has received 25 reports of leaking tanks. No injuries have been reported.
This recall involves gasoline-powered blowers and mister dusters sold under the Maruyama brand. Model numbers are printed on the product’s recoil starter. Backpack blowers and mister dusters included in this recall have a white, translucent fuel tank. The defective backpack blowers and mister dusters were sold by authorized service dealers nationwide from April 2008 through December 2010 for between $320 and $820. Kawasaki Motor Backpack Blowers
About 3,400 Gasoline-Powered Backpack Blowers were recalled in the U.S.; 100 were recalled in Canada. The defective blowers were manufactured in Japan and imported by Kawasaki Motor Corp. U.S. A., of Irvine, California. The gasoline tank can split and leak fuel, posing a fire hazard to consumers. To date, no incidents or injuries have been reported.
This recall involves gasoline-powered blowers sold under the Kawasaki brand. Model and serial numbers are printed on the product’s blower housing. Backpack blowers involved have a white, translucent fuel tank and were sold by authorized service dealers nationwide from August 2008 through February 2011 for between $420 and $490.
