A serious traffic accident in Missouri involving two <"https://www.yourlawyer.com/topics/overview/bus_accidents">school buses has killed at least two people and injured 50 others. According to various media reports, one of the fatalities is a child on one of the school buses involved in the crash.
According to a report on KMOV.com, the accident occurred on eastbound I-44 in Gray Summit, Missouri around 10:15 a.m. local time. The crash involved two school buses and a tractor-trailer, as well as a fourth vehicle, possibly an SUV, which was wedged under the school bus.
According to a report on KFVS12.com, footage of the scene showed ladders leaning into bus windows. One bus was perched atop the trailer cab.
Eastbound I-44 is shut down between Route O/US 50 West and Route 100 West/Washington.
The two school buses were carrying 8th grade band students from St. James, Missouri who were on their way to a Six Flags amusement park, KMOV said.
There is no word on how bad injuries are. According to KMOV, two of the injured are being taken to St. Clair Hospital in Fenton, four people are being taken to St. John’s Mercy Medical Center in Creve Coeur, and five people are being taken to St. John’s. Thirty-six children were also taken to Cardinal Glennon Hospital with no serious injuries but as a precaution.
According to both KMOV and KFVS12, the number of injured has been confirmed by the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department.
