Two women died after a head-on collision on Route 109 in East Farmingdale around 11 p.m. on November 23, one of them the woman driving the wrong way on the road.
Susan Krebser of Levittown was driving northwest in the southeast lanes when her 1991 Buick Regal collided head-on with a 2012 Kia Forte driven by Jeanne Grazia of Islip, police said. Grazia was pronounced dead at Nassau University Medical Center following the crash, CBS News reports. Grazia was coming home from work at a Farmingdale funeral parlor when the crash occurred.Grazia’s daughter-in-law said her mother-in-law was five minutes away from the McCourt and Trudden Funeral Home, where she worked as a greeter, comforting mourners. Grazia had worked at the funeral home for nearly 20 years and her boss, William Trudden, described her as a “wonderful, caring woman,” according to CBS News. She leaves behind three sons, her daughter-in-law, a granddaughter, a brother and a sister.
Krebser was taken to Nassau University Medical Center in serious condition and later died of her injuries, police said on Monday. Before her death, Krebser was charged with driving while intoxicated. Police said they recovered alcohol inside her car. According to CBS News, neighbors say Krebser was despondent over losing custody of her son in a divorce.
Both cars have been impounded for safety checks, as the police continue to investigate the crash. Detectives ask anyone who witnessed the crash to contact the police.
